By now we all know the story of where the inspiration for Ruckify came from; our
Founder Steve Cody’s neighbour, and now partner, Bruce Linton, was looking to clean up some fallen trees and
needed a chainsaw. As much his neighbour wanted to buy one, he knew better than
to risk marital discord over a piece of equipment he really only needed for a short
while. But Steve’s neighbour didn’t know where he could get a chainsaw for a few
A light bulb went on in Steve’s mind and the idea was born for a marketplace app
that allows people to share assets on a short-term basis. Ruckify allows those with
under-used assets to make them available to people who need those asset for a
short period to time without having to buy them. Someone makes money, someone
It makes perfect sense and is a natural next phase in today’s sharing economy. Baby
Boomers and Gen X-ers are at a point in their lives where they want to simplify their
lives and own fewer things. Millennials and Gen Zs are avoiding or delaying buying
things for as long as possible. They still want the experiences from using those
things (cars, homes, camping equipment, sporting equipment, a/v equipment, etc…),
but they don’t want to own them. Ruckify is the perfect place to find those things
from a trusted source, use them for a while and return them.
Oh and by the way, every time you rent something using the Ruckify app, Ruckify
will plant a tree on your behalf.
Make some money, save some money, help the environment.
